Our fish of the month are Tiger Barbs
Tiger barbs are a robust tropical fish originating from south east Asia. They typically grow no larger then 6cm and are best kept in groups of 6 or more. Tiger barbs unfortunately have a tendency to fin nip long finned fish, so we advise that they are not kept with species such as Guppies or Siamese fighting fish (Betta). Keeping them in large groups can something ease this behaviour as they will focus on annoying fellow tiger barbs, than other tankmates. Tiger barbs are available in a standard striped pattern (wild form) or ornamental varieties of green or red (albino). Overall Tiger barbs are an active and easy to keep species that is ideal for beginners.
