1. Vacancy at our 1925 Kitchen Café; Sidmouth Road, Clyst St Mary

Are you looking for a new opportunity, a new job with a great team? We have a new and exciting supervisory position in The 1925 Kitchen and we are keen to recruit the right person as soon as possible for a start date of 24th of September.

JOB DETAILS: Four days a week, hours from 8am to 4.30pm, days off Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Total hours: 32 hours a week. An initial one year fixed term contract will be given but the intention is to turn this into a permanent contract.

Essential skills: Supervisory experience in a working environment, restaurant / café experience both in the kitchen and front of house, good team player, great customer service, cheerful with good communication skills, committed and reliable and physically fit.

Desirable skills: Level 2 Award in Food Safety & Hygiene and Barista Experience

2. P/T Vacancy based at our Old Rydon Lane garden centre – 24 hours H&S co-ordinator

We are looking for a health & safety co-ordinator.

The successful candidate will maintain the Company’s Environmental and Health & Safety Systems. Specific duties will include reviewing and developing our existing H&S policies to deliver best practice and meet with legislative requirements; undertake H&S audits, risk assessments and incident investigations. Other duties include coordinating the company’s waste disposal.

The successful candidate will possess excellent attention to detail and organisational skills, will be a good communicator. You will have good office system skills preferably MS Office Word, Outlook, and Excel. Candidates will ideally have a NEBOSH certificate or an Environmental Management certificate, and experience of conducting the above duties. This position is permanent, part time (24 hours a week), with a three month probation period.

3. P/T Vacancy at our 1925 Kitchen Café; Sidmouth Road, Clyst St Mary – 20 hours Front of House/Barista.

Are you looking for a new opportunity, a new job with a great team? We are looking for a front of house staff member to join our team in delivering excellent customer service. Previous experience is an advantage but if you think you could you could reach our high standards then we would like to hear from you.  Hours are all worked between 9am and 4.30pm.

JOB DETAILS: Contract will be for a minimum of 20 hours a week (starting rota every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). An initial one year fixed term contract will be given but the intention is to turn this into a permanent contract.

Essential skills: Restaurant / café experience, good team player, great customer service, cheerful with good communication skills, committed and reliable.

Desirable skills: Level 2 Award in Food Safety & Hygiene and Barista Experience

4. P/T Vacancy – Health & Safety Co-ordinator based at our Old Rydon Lane office, 22.5 hours.

We are looking for an organised person who likes to “stick to the rules” to help ensure our H&S policy and procedures are carried out by all departments. You must be a great communicator and able to work on your own efficiently whilst also working with every sub-team with the business.

Job tasks will include:

  • Fire Safety – including regular fire safety checks, fire risk assessment updates and maintaining the Fire Log
  • Risk assessments;
  • COSHH assessments and Safety Data Sheets;
  • Monitor asbestos and arrange disposal when required;
  • Legionella monitoring of the water systems following an assessment;
  • Record any workplace accidents, investigate and report to RIDDOR if necessary;
  • Organise H&S training, both internal and external as required;
  • Liaise with site managers to ensure sites are kept tidy and do not pose fire or health and safety risks;
  • Ensure the company Health & Safety Policy & Handbook is kept up to date and available to all staff;
  • Liaise with our external H&S advisory company and use their web tool and HSE websites to help accomplish the above.
  • Environmental
  • Arrange, oversee and monitor waste removal and disposal including recycling activities, waste to landfill and waste for energy production plus all paperwork;
  • Ensure safe disposal of hazardous waste via appropriate contractors, including paperwork;
  • Ensure adequate pest control is provided;
  • Ensure utility meter readings are taken and recorded regularly;
  • Monitor fuel and heating oil usage and reorder when necessary.
  • When necessary, obtain quotes for equipment, training, assessments and waste disposal, and follow the purchase ordering procedure, liaising with the Managing Director and/or the Finance Manager;
  • Liaise with managers and supervisors where necessary to accomplish any of the above and resolve issues;
  • Ensure that all relevant paperwork is kept up to date and available;
  • To undertake training when required and relevant;

You must have a minimum of 8 GCSEs grade A*-C
